Sanatan Dharm Sabhayen are playing vital role in the field of education in Northern India. Sri Sanatan Dharm Rakshini Sabha, Roorkee too had started two co-educational Primary Schools in 1940. The School opened purely for women’s education is known as Shri Sanatan Dharm Prakash Chand Girls Inter College, Roorkee. The management committee of S.S.D.P.C. Girls Inter College, Roorkee passed a resolution for opening a girl’s degree college at Roorkee in order to promote higher education among girls in 1965 and in 1966 the degree college came into existence.
The college was affiliated to Agra University with the blessings of Vice-Chancellor Shri Sheetal Prasad Ji. In 1998 B.Sc classes were started in Bio & Maths group both. The Management Committee obtained permission to run post graduate classes in political Science and Drawing & Painting in 2006, from HNB Garhwal University, Srinagar. In 2011 the College has obtained permission to start B.Sc classes with Micro Biology. Our students regularly touch the merit list of the university and are serving leading companies, institutions and government concerns on high posts. The college has a high learning environment with spacious building equipped with all facilities that are available in big educational institutes. The college has an able and highly experienced faculty which works with a team spirit under the able guidance and supervision of a worthy Principal and devoted management. It imparts education in moral values, discipline and Indian culture with a view to seeking the full development of its student’s personality.
